Empowering mirror selfies
Are we still taking mirror selfies?
Yes, why not. But, mastering a mirror selfie isn't easy, although it isn't rocket science either. Here are a few tips from yours truly, a professional photo stylist and empowerment photographer.
So, when you are ready to take those selfies:
#1 Make sure that your camera and your mirror are clean!
#2 Make sure that the space you are using is clean and tidy, it makes a huge difference, believe me.
#3 Light is key, if at all possible opt for soft natural light. If that’s not an option, and you have to use artificial lights, opt for a warm light bulb, perhaps even a dimmable one. Avoid harsh, direct cold light on your face. (Just think of badly lit change rooms, You get what I’m saying, right? No one ever looked good in one of those.)
#4 Find a pose that you like, sometimes a slight twist to our bodies and well positioned hands can make a huge difference, as long as it doesn't look forced and uncomfortable.
#5 Think about what you want to show off or highlight in your pictures. Is it your gorgeous dress? Is it your figure? What is the main focus of the photo?
Tips for eye contact: look at your phone camera's reflection in the mirror when taking the picture.
Feel free to have fun, style your outfit, try different jewellery, try different poses and angles.
And please know that not all mirror selfies have to be posted or shared.
Please know that taking mirror selfies isn't just for influencers and Instagram models.
Please know that taking mirror selfies can be fun, and also it can be super empowering.
I hope this helps. ♡
